School Social Worker
School Social Worker's Role:
School Social Workers are hired by the school district and aid in bridging the gap between home, school, and community to achieve student success. A referral form for requested services should be completed (see link above).
SSW's are trained professionals and provide the following services:
RELATED SERVICES:
- Monitor attendance
- Participate in IEP/MTSS Meetings
- Work with student living situations that affect student adjustment in the school setting
- Provide Individual and Group Counseling/Therapy
- Assist with creating positive intervention strategies
- Provide support to staff
- Assist teachers with classroom/behavior management strategies
SERVICES TO STUDENTS:
- Group or Individual Counseling/Therapy
- Crisis Intervention
- Develop strategies to increase academic success
- Assist students in areas such as: Mental health concerns, conflict resolution, social skills, anger management, and understanding self and others.
SERVICES TO PARENT/FAMILIES:
- Promote and encourage collaboration with the administration, teachers, and staff to provide a safe learning environment
- Aim to reduce family stress that affects student learning and adjustment in the school setting
- Link families to community resources
